Less than a year after stepping down as Federal Communications Commission chairman, Julius Genachowski returned to the corporate world to take a post at The Carlyle Group, the investment firm announced Monday.
Genachowski, a former IAC/InterActiveCorp general counsel who led the FCC from June 2009 to May 2013, joined Carlyle as a Washington, D.C.-based managing director and partner in its U.S. buyout team. He most recently served as a senior fellow at the Aspen Institute and taught a joint class at Harvard University's business and law schools.
The former FCC leader will concentrate on global technology, media and telecommunications investments at Carlyle. The firm's investments in the sectors include AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc. and Nielsen Holdings N.V.
