Drones: For years top Pakistani officials have known of and secretly endorsed the use of drone attacks, despite public denunciation. The Washington Post obtained CIA documents and Pakistani diplomatic memos which show that the Pakistani officials received classified briefings on the location of the strikes and body counts.
Subprime: Bank of America was found liable for its sale of subprime mortgages to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. The jury verdict out of New York's southern district was a major victory for prosecutors and also a first. Prosecutors are seeking $848 million from Bank of America. The New York Times reports.
Bribes: In the trial of Chevron v. Donziger, an Ecuadorian judge took the stand to testify that he and another colleague who wrote the $19 billion judement were bribed. Our sibling publication, Am Law Litigation Daily reports.
Hacked: President Obama spoke with Germany Chancellor Angela Merkel to reassure her that the NSA was not tapping her cell phone after a report in German media. Likewise the French have had similar outrage at the thought that Washington might be spying on two of its closest European allies. Reuters reports.
