Snowden Reunion: Lon Snowden, the father of National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden, obtained papers to travel to Russia and intends to talk to his son about how the former U.S. contractor could fight espionage charges, The Associated Press reports.

Oversight Challenges: Some U.S. lawmakers on intelligence and judiciary committees say hurdles restricted their oversight of the NSA's telephone surveillance, The Washington Post reports. "In terms of the oversight function, I feel inadequate most of the time," said Representative Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.), a member of the House Intelligence Committee and an NSA critic.

Vacation Time: President Barack Obama and his family on Saturday arrived in Martha's Vineyard for a week-long vacation on the Massachusetts island, Politico reports. Press Secretary Jay Carney said the president "is looking forward very much to some downtime with his family."
