BBear (12/26 below), I watched Michael Tigar defend Lynne Stewart Esq after she was indicted for blabbing information from newspaper headlines to her own client (the "blind sheik," who was supposed to be kept in the dark for years for national security reasons). Tigar was fiery in service to a powerfully emotional legal cause - but already in 2004 he looked his age, fighting the bind she'd been placed in by the sheik's intense but only slightly younger prosecutor, Patrick Fitzgerald. Made me feel old too.

One of the six remaining judicial nominees is not controversial and would serve in California's Eastern District. This court is ranked as the worst judicial emergency in the nation. Hard to understand why the Senate has conducted votes for nominees to courts without emergencies and hasn't voted on this nominee yet.

Jon Tigar is the son of Mike Tigar. Young lawyers may shrug. Those of a certain age will be amazed that Mike Tigar can have a son old enough to be a federal judge.

Where has the time gone? I feel old.
