A former managing partner of the Washington office of Manatt, Phelps & Phillips has notified Congress that she is lobbying for a company that provides online education programs in 44 states.
Manatt partner June DeHart, who led the firm's D.C. office from 1998 to 2001, filed lobbying registration paperwork for e2020 Inc. this week. DeHart said she is introducing the Scottsdale, Ariz.-based company to members of Congress and telling them about the services it can provide to the U.S. government. With the acquisition of Giant Campus Inc. by e2020's parent company Weld North Education LLC last year, e2020 is able to provide several online courses for adults, as well as middle and high school students.
"To me, it just sounded like a terrific business," DeHart said.
