Greenberg Traurig has landed a lobbying contract with the union representing U.S. Airways pilots.
The firm is advocating for the U.S. Airline Pilots Association on pension legislation and matters concerning U.S. Airways' possible merger with American Airlines, according to a lobbying registration report filed with Congress this week.
Greenberg shareholders Edward Barron and Alan Slomowitz, as well as senior director of governmental affairs Diane Blagman and senior directors J. Daniel Walsh and Michael Williams, are handling the account.
Slomowitz directed questions on the contract to Greenberg spokeswoman Jill Perry, who couldn't immediately be reached for comment. Capt. James Ray, a U.S. Airline Pilots Association spokesman, also couldn't immediately be reached for comment.
The Charlotte, N.C.-based union hasn't had federal lobbyists before, according to congressional records that date to 1999. The group represents more than 5,000 pilots.
