Holland & Hart last week notified Congress that it is advocating for Europe's second largest automaker.
The law firm is representing Paris-based PSA Peugeot Citroën on "[i]nternational trade issues affecting Foreign Automobile Manufacturers," according to a lobbying registration filing submitted on Friday. Holland & Hart partners Kelly Johnson and J. Triplett Mackintosh are handling the account.
Johnson declined to elaborate on the filing.
Peugeot, which sells cars in scores of countries around the world, hasn't exported automobiles to the United States since 1992. But Detroit-based General Motors Co. this year acquired a 7 percent stake in Peugeot to become the company's second-largest shareholder behind its founding family. The alliance is intended to increase the competiveness of both companies in Europe, GM said in a news release announcing the agreement in February.
The French car manufacturer hasn't had lobbyists register to represent it before, according to congressional records that date to 1999.
