Kelley Drye & Warren has added a former Dutko Grayling managing director to its lobbying and international trade practices, the firm announced Thursday.
Greg Mastel, who joined Dutko in 2010, is serving as director of government relations at Kelley. He specializes in trade, tax and environmental matters.
Mastel said Dutko “wasn’t a good match for” him. Having the resources of a law firm at his disposal is “a big help,” he said.
“I’m very excited to come here,” said Mastel, who isn’t a lawyer.
At Dutko last year, he lobbied for 10 of the firm’s clients, including General Motors Co. and railway company SNCF America Inc., according to congressional records. Before he joined Dutko, Mastel was a senior adviser at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld for three years, after a four-year stint at Miller & Chevalier, where he spent time as the firm’s government affairs department chairman.
Mastel also has worked for Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.), holding positions that included chief of staff.
