A former associate director of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board has re-joined Winston & Strawn’s Washington office, the firm announced Monday.
Robert Berger, who served with the nonprofit board’s division of enforcement and investigations, is joining the firm’s litigation department as of counsel. He focuses on accountants’ liability issues and securities litigation.
During his time at the oversight board, Berger conducted formal investigations into potential violations of the oversight board’s rules. He represented the board in disciplinary action before the board’s hearing officer and worked with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Tom Buchanan, head of litigation for Winston's Washington office, said in a statement that he was pleased to have Berger back at the firm.
“Through his work at the PCAOB, he gained a true understanding of the workings inside a number of key industries," Buchanan said in the statement. "This experience will be valuable to our corporate clientele and to our litigation practice that serves it, particularly in the area of accountants' liability.”
