The Podesta Group is adding to the ranks of its team in Washington.
Christy Clark, who was previously the chief of staff and senior adviser in the Office of the Under Secretary of Terrorism and Financial Intelligence at the Treasury Department, and Rebecca Edgar, who is rejoining the Podesta Group after serving as managing partner of Mattoon & Associates, both joined the firm as partners.
Clark, who has also served as the foreign policy and defense adviser to Sen. John Kyl (R-Ariz.), focuses her practice on domestic and international sanctions, anti-money laundering and other financial regulatory issues, as well as foreign policy, defense and intelligence. She started work at the firm about six weeks ago, according to a spokeswoman at the Podesta Group. Clark is barred from lobbying the Treasury Department for one year.
Edgar joined the Podesta group in 2001 after working for the National Republican Congressional Committee. She left the firm in 2008 to join Mattoon & Associates, a Republican spinoff from the Podesta Group that is run by Dan Mattoon. Podesta Group chairman Tony Podesta and Mattoon used to be name partners of PodestaMatoon. According to Senate lobbying disclosure records, Edgar’s past clients include General Dynamics, The Washington Post Co., DHL Worldwide Network, QualComm Inc., Altria Group Inc., United Airlines and Clearchannel Communications.
At the Podesta Group, Edgar will serve as Podesta’s chief of staff, managing his day-to-day operations and developing strategic work plans for the firm’s clients.
The firm has also added Stephanie O’Keefe, who was previously senior vice president for communications at the Export Import Bank of the United States. At the Podesta Group, O’Keefe, who also joins as a partner, will manage the firm’s business development efforts.
