Bert Reiser, who until recently was a patent litigation partner at Howrey, has joined Latham & Watkins’ Washington office as a partner.
Reiser, who started work at Latham, focuses his practice on advising U.S. and multinational companies in patent litigation cases, in particular before the International Trade Commission. His clients include companies in the medical devices, semi-conductor, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, technology, cleantech, and mobile communication industries. According to court records, Reiser has represented Verizon California Inc., Applied Medical Resources Corp., and EMC Corp.
Before joining Howrey in 1995, Reiser served as attorney adviser to Chief Administrative Law Judge Paul Luckern of the ITC. In that role, he was involved in more than 20 Section 337 actions. Since moving into private practice, Reiser has handled 35 ITC Section 337 investigations – including 11 trials.
The addition of Reiser to Latham’s patent litigation practice comes shortly after the firm added two other partners to the practice. In August, Latham added Lawrence Gotts from Paul Hastings Janofsky & Walker. And in February, the firm brought on Matthew Moore, also a former Howrey partner.
