Marc Kaufman, who until recently was co-chair of Nixon Peabody’s patent practice, has joined Reed Smith as a partner in Washington, he said today. He started work at the firm today.
Kaufman focuses his practice on handling patent issues for clients in the reconfigurable processors, content aggregation and targeting, digital rights management, database technology, document retrieval, search engine technology, and data mining industries.
Kaufman’s move comes a little more than a year after he was tapped to co-chair Nixon Peabody’s patent practice. At Nixon, he also served as the head of the digital technology/manufacturing team. According to U.S. Patent and Trademark Office records, his past clients include Vitria Technology Inc., ContentGuard Holdings Inc., QST Holdings, and Carfax Inc.
In a statement, Allison McClain, director of media relations at Nixon, said, “We appreciate Marc's past contributions to the firm.”
