Goutam Patnaik has left Bingham McCutchen’s Washington office to join Pepper Hamilton. Patnaik, who joins as a partner, focuses his practice on intellectual property and commercial matters, including patent, trademark and copyright disputes.
Patnaik has handled Section 337 investigations before the International Trade Commission. Section 337 investigations are administrative proceedings before the ITC that address patent, trademark, and copyright infringement issues. They have also involved antitrust, trade secret, and breach of contract claims.
Patnaik has also negotiated and drafted licensing agreements for the development, use and maintenance of software applications in the banking and insurance industries.
In a statement, Vincent Carissimi, chair of Pepper Hamilton’s intellectual property practice, said, “[Patnaik’s] expertise will be particularly helpful to our clients engaging our patent litigation practice generally and in Washington specifically.”
Patnaik was not immediately available for comment.
