David Leitch, the general counsel of Ford Motor Co., is the new chairman of the board of directors of the National Chamber Litigation Center. Leitch succeeds James Comey, who until recently was senior vice president and general counsel of Lockheed Martin Corp.
Leitch, a former law clerk for the late Chief Justice William Rehnquist and a former Hogan & Hartson partner, has been on the Litigation Center's board since 2006. He is also a former chief counsel for the Federal Aviation Administration and a former deputy assistant attorney general for the U.S. Department of Justice.
He could not immediately be reached for comment. In a statement released by the Litigation Center, he said that "Fair treatment of business in the courts is vital for American competitiveness and a prosperous economy."
The center is the litigation arm of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Click here for a story in this week's NLJ that includes a look at some of the cases on its docket.
