Baker Hostetler has picked up three lawyers from Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton for its antitrust and trade regulation practice in Washington.
The group is led by partner John "Jack" Fornaciari, who advises clients on RICO claims, freeze-out mergers, and claims of breach of duty, conspiracy, mail fraud and wire fraud. Fornaciari, who had been at Sheppard Mullin for the past seven years, also handles merger clearances. He has designed and implemented antitrust and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act compliance programs for companies in the United States and abroad.
Also joining Baker Hostetler are Robert Disch, who is of counsel and Jeremy Keim, who is an associate. Disch represents clients in state and federal civil and criminal antitrust investigations, private treble-damage antitrust actions and other commercial litigation and white-collar criminal defense matters. Keim focuses on issues relating to the Sherman Act, Clayton Act, Federal Trade Commission Act and Hart-Scott-Rodino Act.
Fornaciari said he hadn't been planning to make a move, but after being contacted by a recruiter he "realized that Baker Hostetler had a lot going on."
Pointing to Baker Hostetler partner Irving Picard's work as the trustee working to untangle the Madoff Ponzi scheme, Fornaciari said the firm "has a lot of dynamic work going on."
Fornaciari brings with him a book of business that includes clients such as the accounting firm Reznick Group, Yusen Air & Sea Service, and the Japanese shipping company NYK Line.
