King & Spalding has added Patrick Morrisey to its Washington office, where he will co-chair the firm's 39-lawyer FDA/life sciences practice.
Morrisey, who joins the firm from Sidley Austin, focuses his practice on Medicare, Medicaid and Food and Drug Administration regulatory issues, particularly for pharmaceutical companies, medical device manufacturers, health care plans and providers. He handles congressional oversight investigations. And these days he advises clients on regulatory and legislative aspects of health care reform.
Morrisey is a former deputy staff director and chief health counsel for the House Energy and Commerce Committee, which has jurisdiction over Medicare, Medicaid, FDA, health care insurance and public health matters.
In a statement, Edward Basile, the other co-chair of King & Spalding’s FDA/life sciences practice, said, “In addition to representing eight of the top 10 pharmaceutical/biotechnology manufacturers as well as eight of the top 10 medical device manufacturers, King & Spalding also has the largest health care law practice in the nation.”
Morrisey was not immediately available for comment.
