The D.C. Superior Court is accepting applications for a vacancy on the bench.
Judge Odessa Vincent has retired effective April 6, after serving on the court since 2001, when she was appointed by President George W. Bush.
To qualify, applicants must be U.S. citizens, D.C. Bar members and D.C. residents for the five years proceeding the nomination. They must also either be engaged in the practice of law in Washington, on the faculty of a D.C. law school or employed as an attorney by either the U.S. or the D.C. government.
The D.C. Judicial Nomination Commission is required to submit three names to President Obama within 60 days of the vacancy. Applications must be submitted by April 29.
