A former pharmaceutical company executive has been named vice president of state affairs for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Institute for Legal Reform, the group announced yesterday.
In his new position at the Washington-based institute, Richard Winget will direct legislative advocacy, grassroots efforts and communications strategy at the state level.
He said he hopes to foster “a good climate for job creation” within states. “It’s always been a passion,” Winget said.
Previously, Winget was vice president of government affairs and advocacy at Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, which was acquired this year by Pfizer. Winget headed the company’s federal and state lobbying efforts. Before that, he spent about 16 years at Bayer Corp., where, among other roles, he headed individual state lobbying efforts.
