The last time we heard much about a Supreme Court justice dancing was after Sandra Day O'Connor joined the Court in 1981. The late justice Lewis Powell Jr. would boast to anyone listening that he had won the distinction of being the first justice in history to dance with another justice, namely O'Connor.
Now comes Justice Sonia Sotomayor, who isn't dancing with other justices just yet, or not that we know of. But on Tuesday night she did some pretty smooth dancing in spike heels with actor Esai Morales. It was at the National Hispanic Foundation for the Arts' "Noche Musical" at the Corcoran Gallery. She was already the star attraction of the evening, and when Morales asked her to dance, the crowd roared as she accepted, without much hesitation.
The Washington Post submitted the video to its dance critic, who gave thumbs up. "Who knew Her Honor was a ham?" said critic Sarah Kaufman. "And can swing her hips?" Washington Life was the source of the video. Go ahead, watch. It's at this link.
