As usual, no cameras were allowed inside the Supreme Court for today's unusual oral argument in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission. But after the hearing was over, lawyers in the case -- with the exception of Solicitor General Elena Kagan -- and others involved in the issue spoke with the press at a stakeout on the marble plaza of the Court. Our Jay Mallin was there, and some of his photos are below.
In the first image, Sens. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Russ Feingold (D-Wisc.) answer press questions. In the second, Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher partner Theodore Olson is at right, next to his client David Bossie of Citizens United. Finally, Seth Waxman of Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr, who argued on behalf of the congressional sponsors of the McCain-Feingold law, adjusts his tie.
