Patton Boggs has picked up Jeffrey Cohen, a municipal finance attorney and founder of Denver firm Cohen & Associates, and two associates for its Denver office.
With Cohen, the D.C.-based firm now has 21 partners in that office.
"I needed the backup, frankly, of a big national firm, and Patton seemed to be the logical choice," Cohen said.
According to a Patton Boggs release, he currently serves as lead adviser to one of the nation's largest municipal bond mutual funds regarding the $4.6 billion of Alabama revenue bonds in default.
Patton Boggs' managing partner, Stuart Pape, said Cohen's hiring will bolster the municipal practice. "We look forward to expanding our reach in this arena," he said in the release.
Cohen also handles commercial litigation and business restructuring matters.
Cohen said Cohen & Associates has closed.
