Philadelphia-based law firm Cozen O'Connor has formed Cozen O'Connor Public Strategies to offer government relations services in Washington, D.C.
Mark Alderman, the former chairman of Wolf Block who joined Cozen O'Connor in April, will spend three days a week at the firm's Washington D.C. office and lead the federal government relations efforts, said Cozen O'Connor president and chief executive officer Tad Decker. Alderman was a member of the Obama-Biden transition team, according to the firm.
Asked why the firm decided to set up a public strategies unit now, Decker said, "We recognized a need and our clients identified the need" for lobbying services. He noted that the firm has done some lobbying on the state level in the past and will continue to do that as well.
So far, according to lobbying disclosure records, the firm has registered three clients with the federal government: the Battery Electric Vehicle Coalition; Aerovironment, Inc.; and Darby Financial Products. Decker said more registrations are coming, though he wouldn't say how many or name the clients.
