Arent Fox sued two former clients earlier this week for nonpayment, marking the second lawsuit the firm has filed this month that alleges it has not been paid for legal services.
Arent Fox's complaint, filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia on Monday, says that Phillips Park LLC, a D.C. real estate development company, and its managing member First Capital Trust breached a contract with Arent Fox when they failed to pay $390,584.39 in legal bills. Phillips Park and First Capital Trust hired the firm to provide legal advice on zoning, land use, and transactional issues stemming from the Phillips Park development in Washington.
Arent Fox also says it is owed interest on the unpaid bills.
The firm declined to comment on the lawsuit. Phillips Park also declined to comment.
The suit against Phillips Park and First Capital Trust follows a similar suit filed by the firm against Gietz Master Builders in D.C. federal court on May 7. That complaint alleges that Geitz owes the firm about $76,000 in unpaid legal bills.
