Dechert is laying off 19 lawyers, a combination of associates and counsel, across its U.S. offices, according to a spokeswoman at the firm. Partners began notifying those affected earlier this morning.
The spokeswoman says the layoffs were because "of a reduction in demand."
It’s unclear how many, if any, associates in the 92-lawyer Washington office will be affected. There are 57 associates in the D.C. location and 10 of counsel and counsel. The spokeswoman says the firm is not saying which offices were affected by the layoffs.
This is the first round of layoffs for the Philadelphia-based firm this year.
