Beth Wilkinson, most recently general counsel of Fannie Mae, has joined the Washington office of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison as a partner in the litigation department, the firm just announced.
Wilkinson left the beleaguered Fannie Mae last September following the government takeover of mortgage giants Fannie and Freddie Mac. Before taking her position at Fannie in 2006, Wilkinson was a partner for seven years in Latham & Watkins’ D.C. office.

Paul, Weiss’ Washington managing partner Kenneth Gallo says the firm is “thrilled” to have Wilkinson and that the details of her joining the firm were finalized only this afternoon. “She’s going to be an important partner in the firm. I have no doubt,” says Gallo.
Gallo says recruiting Wilkinson required a lot of his time during the month of December. Paul, Weiss began courting her last month, and she made the decision to join the firm earlier this month. Gallo says she met all of Paul, Weiss’ partners within a 30-day period. The AmLaw Daily has more here.
