Patrick Shen, a former senior official with the Justice Department, has rejoined Fragomen, Del Rey, Bernsen & Loewy as counsel in the firm’s D.C. office.
Shen, 42, left Fragomen, an immigration law firm, in late October 2007, when he was appointed by President George W. Bush and confirmed by the Senate as special counsel for immigration-related unfair employment practices in the Justice Department's Civil Rights Division.
Shen’s decision to return to Fragomen was based on several factors, he says, including his “familiarity with the firm,” the “very collegial atmosphere,” and a practice area that allowed him to use his “background in enforcement."
During his first stint with the firm, Shen served as the director of government relations. In his second go-around, he will serve as Fragomen's director of global compliance.
Shen, whose first day was yesterday, says he is not working with any clients yet and is “just catching up.”
