Stephen Kinnaird, a former partner with Sidley Austin, has joined Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker’s D.C. office as a partner and as co-chair of the firm’s appellate practice. Kinnaird officially began work at Paul Hastings on Sept. 15.
Kinnaird will focus his work on appellate and U.S. Supreme Court litigation with Paul Hastings – the same type of work he focused on while at Sidley. Peter Keisler and Joseph Guerra are the chairs of the appellate practice at Sidley. Kinnaird said he left Sidley after 12 years because of the opportunity at Paul Hastings to help lead his own practice.
“Sidley was terrific,” Kinnaird said. “But this was a chance to build something of my own.”
The former law clerk to Justice Anthony Kennedy has represented clients at the U.S. Supreme Court, courts of appeals, and district courts on a range of matters including energy, transportation, and intellectual property.
