Arnold & Porter continues to grow its FDA and healthcare practice with the addition of Vernessa Pollard from the FDA. She is the ninth healthcare lawyer to join the firm in the past month.
Pollard spent the past six years as an associate chief counsel for enforcement at the FDA. During her tenure at the agency, she litigated a number of cases, and advised agency clients on compliance and regulatory matters. She started as counsel at Arnold & Porter on Monday. Her practice there focuses on clients within the pharmaceutical, medical device, and biotech industries.
Pollard met Daniel Kracov, who heads Arnold & Porter’s FDA and healthcare practice, in February while they were both panelists at a conference. “I was impressed with him and we got to talking, and that was sort of the initial contact,” she says. From there, Pollard says she realized joining Arnold was “a no-brainer.” Though she is fresh from government, Pollard says the contacts she made during her time at the FDA, as well as the healthcare practice’s existing clients, will help her build business.
Arnold recruited three healthcare lawyers from Arent Fox last month, including partners Alan Reider and Allison Shuren. Two lawyers joined the New York office’s healthcare group last week.
