This morning’s downtown power outage made for a late start to the workday for hundreds of Washington lawyers whose offices were in the heart of the chaos.
In an e-mail, Kirkland & Ellis partner Craig Primis told Legal Times that his firm’s 655 15th St. N.W. office was without power from 7:30 to about 10:30 this morning. As a result, its lawyers and staff were denied access to the building for “safety reasons.”
Williams & Connolly, located at 725 12th St. N.W., also suffered from the outage. The WaPo’s coverage of the blackout included this anecdote:
“Two lawyers from the firm Williams and Connolly, holding expandable folders, sat down with a client in one of three plush chairs dragged out into the courtyard. ‘Welcome to the law firm,’ one of the lawyers said, laughing, as the meeting began.”
