In what the school considers another mark of its increasing quality, the University of the District of Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law was ranked as having the 13th best law school clinical program in the country by U.S. News & World Report. The ranking in the clinical program division puts UDC Law ahead of much larger universities such as Harvard, the University of California, Berkeley and Boston College.
UDC Law, which has an annual enrollment of about 240 students, shares the No. 13 slot with Stanford University. The university’s clinical requirement is the largest in the country, requiring two separate clinics that each have students provide 350 hours of legal services to citizens of the District of Columbia who could not otherwise afford representation.
The ranking was based on nominations made by directors or members of the clinical programs. Those programs that received the most nominations made the list.
