We just got word of some new hires over at the U.S. Attorney’s Office in D.C. Below is Jeffrey Taylor’s letter to the ranks:
I am pleased to announce the appointments of Magdalena A. Acevedo, Heide L. Herrmann, B. Michael Ortwein III, Angela M. Pegram, and Ari B. Redboard, as Assistant U.S. Attorneys. Magdalena, Michael and Angela will be assigned to the Misdemeanor Unit of the General Crimes Section, while Heide and Ari will be assigned to the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Unit.Magdalena, 31, was awarded her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1995 from Michigan State University, majoring in Political Theory. In 2000, she was awarded her Juris Doctor degree from the Indiana University School of Law, where she served as the Articles Editor on the Federal Communications Law Journal. In January 2001, Magdalena joined the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps, where she served as a Legal Assistance Attorney, Prosecutor, Principal Legal Advisor, Senior Trial Counsel, Staff Judge Advocate, Appellate Attorney, and most recently Branch Chief of the Appellate Division.
Heide, 34, was awarded her Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, in 1995, from Case Western Reserve University, majoring in Environmental Geology and English. In 1998, Heide was awarded her Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, from Case Western Reserve School of Law. Following law school, Heide joined the law firm of Hahn Loeser & Parks LLP in Cleveland, Ohio, as an Associate, where she focused on commercial litigation in federal and state courts. In 1999, Heide left the firm to serve as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Solomon Oliver, Jr., U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio. In 2000, Heide joined the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) as a Trial Attorney with the Commercial Litigation Branch of the Civil Division. Since 2006, she has worked in the Environment and Natural Resources Division of DOJ as a Trial Attorney.
Michael, 31, was awarded his Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, in 1999 from the College of Holy Cross, majoring in Political Science. In 2002, he was awarded his Juris Doctor degree, from Suffolk University Law School, where he was the Editor in Chief of the Suffolk University Law Review. Following law school, Michael served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Paul L. Rudman, State of Maine, Supreme Judicial Clerk. He then joined the law firm of Gadsby Hannah in Boston, Massachusetts, as an Associate, where he worked for one year before moving to Washington, D.C. in 2004 to serve as the judicial law clerk to the Honorable Richard J. Leon, U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. Since January 2006, Michael has been an Associate with the law firm of Kirkland & Ellis.
Angela, 33, was awarded her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1996 from the College of William & Mary, majoring in English and Economics. In 2002, Angela received her Juris Doctor degree, magna cum laude, from the Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law. While at Catholic, Angela served as the Managing Editor of the Catholic University Law Review. Following law school, Angela joined the law firm of Jones Day, here in Washington, D.C., as an Associate, where she worked for two years. In 2004, she left the firm to serve as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Richard J. Leon, U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. Since 2005, Angie has worked as an Associate at Wilmer, Cutler, Pickering Hale & Dorr, where she represented clients in criminal and civil investigations.
Ari, 33, was awarded his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1997 from Duke University, majoring in History and Political Science. In 2000, Ari was awarded his Juris Doctor degree from the Georgetown University Law Center, following which he served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Malcolm J. Howard, U.S. District Judge for the Eastern District of North Carolina. After his clerkship, Ari joined the law firm of Janis, Schuelke & Wechsler as an Associate. Ari moved to Ohio in 2004 and joined the law firm of Keating, Muething & Klekamp. Later, he worked as an Associate in the law firm of Sommer Barnard, in Indianapolis, Indiana. In 2007, Ari returned to District of Columbia, where he joined the Office of Special Counsel, Special Task Force.
