Cloning Burgers. The Food and Drug Administration found that foods from healthy cloned animals are as safe as food from ordinary animals. The finding should remove the last U.S. regulatory barrier to the marketing of meat and milk from cloned cattle, pigs and goats.
Subprime Woes. Citigroup Inc. posted a huge fourth-quarter net loss, hit by $17.4 billion in subprime-related write-downs. The bank also announced plans to sell another $14.5 billion in preferred stock and said it will cut its dividend 41%.
Race War. A former associate at Forman Perry Watkins Krutz & Tardy in Houston is suing the firm, alleging she was fired in 2005 after reporting that a partner in the firm told her not to hire any more African-American employees.
No Trade. The founders of Purolite Corp. allege they were criminally prosecuted after following the advice of lawyers from Morgan, Lewis & Bockius that they were free to trade with Cuba.
