The American Lawyer reports today that when Jeremey Pitcock left his post as head of intellectual property at New York’s Kasowitz, Benson, Torres & Friedman for Morgan & Finnegan last month, the move was more than your typical lateral jump.
According to the article, name partner of Pitcock’s former firm, Daniel Benson, said in a statement that Pitcock was terminated because of “extremely inappropriate personal conduct.”
Benson in a press release said the firm was “compelled to set the record straight” after it was reported that Morgan & Finnegan had recruited Pitcock.
Pitcock, 35, joined Kasowitz in 2006 from Simpson Thacher & Bartlett.
We are legal recruiters who began working with Mr. Pitcock during the summer of 2007. While we recomended several top firms with a leadership opportunity he kept stalling the process until late November. Then he wanted to proceed but we never heard back from him. Then on January 3rd, we called him at Kasowitz and we were shocked that he was gone. Now we understand. I should add that I first met him when he was a 2nd or 3rd year at Simpson and he always seemed to be a pretty good guy.
