Outsourcing vendors based in India, smarting from hits they took during the last presidential election, are hiring American lobbyists to make their case, most prominently Barbour, Griffth & Rogers president Robert Blackwill, a former ambassador to India under the Bush administration, The New York Times reports today.
According to the Times story, the Indian vendors want to stress the benefits to American companies created by outsourcing and a healthier Indian economy. They're also sending in American employees and working through Indian-American groups to highlight the benefits.
It's unclear whether this new approach will give outsourcing a better name among politicians who must answer to jobless constituents. But it's the sign of a lobbying operation that's growing more sophisticated than it was four years ago.
