I Hereby Declare That I Find You Entirely Offensive: Senate Democrats plan to push for a "no-confidence" vote on Attorney General Alberto Gonzales as early as next week, forcing Republicans to take a stand on the beleaguered bureaucrat. Of course, such a vote isn't binding whatsoever on the administration. Perhaps some Dems will cast their votes in British accents just to add to the theatre.
Speaking of No Confidence: It hasn't taken long for criminal defense attorneys to exploit the imploded Duke rape prosecution for the benefit of their clients, according to the National Law Journal. Prosecutors should be worried," said defense attorney Edmund "Skip" Davis, a Texas attorney who cited the Duke case in the recent assault trial and plans to cite it in a rape trial next week (You realize that all Texas lawyers and politicians must have a nickname in order to fully participate in public life.)
And Continuing Along With That Line of Thought: After adopting a deer-in-headlights position in much of their last playoff game with New Jersey, the Cleveland Cavaliers will again try to close out the pugnacious Nets tonight in Game 6 of their NBA playoff series. That anguished moan you hear around 9 p.m. ET will be me asking the heavens (for the thousandth time) why grown men who make millions of dollars can't hit their free throws. I'll spare you the soliloquy, but it goes on for awhile. Someday I may take it to Broadway.
Putting the 'Dope' in Doping: For sheer lunacy, you can't beat the goings-on in the Floyd Landis hearing in California. The Tour de France winner is accused of cheating. Yesterday, his manager was fired after it was revealed that he made a prank "molestation" call to former Tour winner Greg LeMond. (Not exactly a fake pizza delivery, is it?) Landis was wearing all black in court yesterday in protest of LeMond's very presence. Good stuff.
I came across your blog through a technorati search and I was wondering if you'd be interested in a link exchange with Immigration Orange. I'm always looking for different perspectives to interact with and value all viewpoints. Email me at kyledeb at gmail dot com if you're interested.
