From pornography sellers to sex workers, Herald Price Fahringer, has represented them all, most notably as the attorney who took Hustler publisher Larry Flynt's case to the Supreme Court. Now Fahringer is Deborah Jean Palfrey’s top choice to defend her from charges of operating a high-end D.C. prostitution ring.
Palfrey's civil forfeiture lawyer has already already ruffled feathers (subscription required) in the otherwise staid D.C. federal courthouse.
Dutiful legal watchers might remember that Fahringer is noted for his representation of clients other lawyers won't. Aside from Flynt, other notable names include socialite Claus von Bulow, jazz drummer Buddy Rich and numerous other sex shops and alleged pornography dealers.
Palfrey, who has asked that her court-appointed attorney be removed (subscription required), would like Fahringer as a replacement. The only catch: that she wants $150,000 from the court to cover his representation, which requires going through a long list of clients for her business. Standard rate in federal court is less than $100 an hour.
"Plainly, I will be denied equal justice if the miserly rate that Congress has set...is deployed to fund my defense," she wrote in an April 23 filing.
If I was Jean Paltrey, I wouldn't go to jail and would do ANYTHING that is truthful to avoid it. What about the politicians and lobbyists who paid for the services she provided. I think everybody with common sense knows what was going on. Let them come forward. Let everyone lie because they will. To protect their names, their families, and their lives. Leave Jean alone. It's just sex. We are at war.BRING EM DOWN JEAN!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, she's not been convicted yet, so she's technically commited no crime. However, if you look at some of the readings on this (I read some filings posted on smoking gun) and the gov't contends paltry palfrey had "test" appts w/ special customers to weed out girls not willing to "go all the way". So ...er ...uhhh...guess that kinda makes her pimp which last I understood was agaist the law. Peace.

Er, what crime did she commit, Sandra? Palfrey linked up escorts with clients. If anything happened between the escort and the client, that's on them. And what's done is done for the johns? How about bringing solicitation charges against every single one of them? That would be justice.

This woman is incredible. So, she breaks the law. Gov't freezes her assets and then she expects the taxpayers to foot the bill for a high-end attorney? Tough crap lady... it's PD for you. I sure as hell don't want to see this criminal get away with what she's trying to pull. I hope the Feds nail her and she gets stuck w/ the max sentence. Of course, I think the patrons leave something to be desired in the way of the morality dept. I mean, I bet most of them are/were married. But whatever, what's done is done. This Paltry skank is evil and trying to drag everyone down to save herself. I hope she doesn't get away with it.
