Livingston Adds a New Consultant
The Livingston Group has announced that it’s brought on Adam Eisgrau, a former counsel on the Senate Judiciary Committee, as a consultant. Eisgrau, the former head of P2P United, has a track record of working on cyber rights and communications issues for both public interest groups like the Electronic Frontier Foundation and for major corporations.
He left the Hill in 1995, following stints with Sens. Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.) and Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), serving as the judicial committee counsel for Feinstein. Eisgrau doesn’t seem to like being tied down. After a stint at the American Library Association, he was a principal at Wexler Walker from 2000 to 2003. He then joined a spin-off of the firm, Flanagan Consulting, until launching his own shop, Eisgrau Business Alliances, in 2005.
Flexibility is one of the greatest advantages to his affiliation with the Livingston Group, Eisgrau says. Because the firm consists of a limited lobbying staff and a larger pool of affiliated consultants, “it’s no obligation, and the sky’s the limit,” he says.
Eisgrau is looking over Livingston’s client list to determine which might be appropriate to pitch, he says, and both he and the firm will jointly recruit new business. Unlike many Livingston Group consultants, Eisgrau won’t be moving into the firm’s offices.
“They’ve been kind enough to offer [space], but the model is flexible enough not to require it,” he says. “I’m comfortably ensconced in my rent-a-desk.”
