Parven Pomper's Public Policy Pickups
A lot of K Street firms have been talking about their growing bipartisan credentials of late, but not the Democratic ones. Parven Pomper Strategies, which is billing itself as a "dynamic Democratic lobbying firm" upon first reference in its own press releases, is touting two new hires: Alixandria Lapp and Van McMurtry.
Lapp, who joined the firm last month, certainly has the overt Democratic credentials: She's been executive director of the New Democrat Network for the last year and was the campaign director of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee under Rep. Rahm Emanuel (D-Ill.) Previously she worked for Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) and Rep. Adam Smith (D-Wash.)
McMurtry, meanwhile, was most recently a senior vice president of Aetna and previously a staffer for former Sen. Lloyd Bentsen (D-Texas). He's keeping the title senior vice president at Parven Pomper and will specialize in health care, tax, energy, and trade issues.
