Fireball: A fertilizer plant in West, Texas, located about 75 miles south of Dallas, caught fire and exploded killing as many as 15 people. The explosion caused a dramatic fireball which leveled buildings in nearby blocks. The Dallas Morning News reports. Casualty figures are expected to rise.
Guns: The Senate Wednesday failed to pass a single gun control measure proposed by President Barack Obama. The Washington Post reports that the biggest defeat came when the Senate voted down a measure that would expand background checks to gun shows and online sales.
Boston: President Obama is set to visit Boston to attend a victim's memorial service. Meanwhile investigators search for a possible suspect Security footage taken before two bombs exploded near the finish line of the Boston Marathon may reveal a suspect. Reuters reports that investigators however have not made any arrests nor identified the possible suspect.
Ricin: The FBI believes that a Mississippi man is responsible for sending envelopes with ricin to President Obama and other officials. USA Today reports.
