Hunton & Williams has added a former FBI cybersecurity adviser to its Washington office.
Paul Tiao has joined the firm as a partner in its privacy and data security practice. Previously, Tiao served as senior counselor to FBI Director Robert Mueller III on issues such as cybersecurity, electronic surveillance, intellectual property crimes and digital forensics. He developed cybersecurity policy positions, helped craft legislation and represented the FBI in discussions within the executive branch, with Congress, and industry leaders.
Prior to joining the FBI, Tiao served on the Senate Judiciary Committee as counsel to Senate Assistant Majority Leader Dick Durbin, and as assistant U.S. attorney in the District of Maryland.
