Locke Lord Strategies, Locke Lord's lobbying shop in Washington, has hired a new senior policy adviser who most recently worked on Capitol Hill for a decade as a Republican staffer, the firm announced on Wednesday.
Chad Heflin was an aide to Republican former senators Jon Kyl of Arizona and Kay Bailey Hutchison of Texas, as well as Representative Kay Granger (R-Texas), working on matters that included appropriations, energy and transportation. Heflin said he had a "great relationship" with Locke Lord when he was on the Hill, making the firm a good fit for him.
"Things have been going very well," Heflin said.
Locke Lord, which didn't make The National Law Journal's Influence 50 list of the highest-grossing lobbying practices in 2012, received $2.4 million for it lobbying efforts last year, according to congressional records. The 10-member government affairs shop's clients last year included transportation and agriculture organizations, as well as the Pakistan Embassy in Washington, the firm's biggest source of lobbying revenue. The embassy paid the firm $1 million to advocate for it on U.S.-Pakistani bilateral relations, among other issues.
