A company formed this year to launch a "contactless" in-store payments system to compete with Google Wallet has hired a Constantine Cannon lawyer as its first lobbyist.
Merchant Customer Exchange LLC (MCX) enlisted Constantine partner Todd Anderson to discuss "MCX's mobile payments and offers solution," according to lobbying registration paperwork filed with Congress this week.
Anderson had no immediate comment.
Google Wallet, launched in 2011, allows users of Android devices to make in-store payments "anywhere contactless payments are accepted," giving consumers a choice of more than 140,000 merchants, according to Google.
