Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough has boosted its lobbyist ranks with the addition of a new policy adviser in Washington.
Ashley Lantz was formerly an adviser to Senator Jay Rockefeller (D-W.V.), chairman of the Senate Commerce Committee. She served as an aide on his legislative staff.
At Nelson Mullins, Lantz will rely on her background in energy and environmental policy, healthcare, and general economic issues. “I think all of those will come in handy in the upcoming Congress,” she said.
Lantz's work on the Hill has been largely focused on appropriation issues. She said she learned about the position from the firm as well as her old boss, former representative Alan Mollohan (D-W.V.). Mollohan is currently of counsel with Nelson Mullins with the firm's Huntington, West Virginia office.
“I think it was a great opportunity to work for this firm,” Lantz said. “I’ve been on the Hill for a little while and was looking to try something a little different.”
