Dickstein Shapiro has added a partner to the firm's state attorneys general practice in Washington.
Lori Kalani, formerly the head of the state attorneys general practice at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe, focuses on AG investigations and public policy issues. She represents companies in finance, social media, online travel, satellite television, telecommunications, retail, auto parts and high tech industries. Some of Kalani's clients include Facebook, Amazon.com and DISH Network.
"I represent large companies who for one reason or another interact with state attorney generals," Kalani said. "Often times it is on a consumer level."
For seven years starting in 2002, Kalani worked as the director of government affairs and senior corporate counsel for DISH Network. Kalani said that she expects her practice to grow now that she's able to supplement her representation with Dickstein’s.
"Whether its Consumer Product Safety Act or Dodd Frank, there are different laws where they have authority to investigate and enforce the law," Kalani said.
