A Dickstein Shapiro partner was elected National Judge Advocate of the Navy League of the United States, according to a release from the firm.
David Nadler, a partner in the firm's government contracts practice, has been involved with the organization for many years.
In an interview, Nadler said that the Navy League, a civilian group founded in 1902, is dedicated to educating Americans about the importance of sea power, particularly in light of those in Congress who have set their sights on the Defense Department's budget.
"The goal here is to remind members of Congress and the American public the importance of a strong Navy and a strong defense," Nadler said.
At Dickstein, Nadler focuses his practice on bid protests, government investigations, the False Claims Act and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, among other issues. Previously, Nadler was a senior attorney with the Naval Sea Systems Command in Washington.
"It's where my experience with the Navy started and it's initially where I came to appreciate the important work the Navy does on behalf of the country," Nadler said.
