An Alston & Bird partner has returned to the firm after a stint with the Justice Department, the firm announced Friday.
Karol Mason has rejoined as a partner in the real estate finance and capital markets group. Mason, who served for three years as a U.S. deputy associate attorney general, will work out of the firm’s Washington, D.C.; Raleigh, N.C.; and Atlanta, Ga., offices.
She focuses her practice on public and project finance, infrastructure financing at public and private education institutions, public and nonprofit hospital financing and government investigations. Mason spent 26 years with the firm before leaving for the Justice Department.
“It has always been our hope that Karol would return to the firm after completing her public service and we are proud and excited to have her back among our ranks,” Alston & Bird Managing Partner Richard Hays said in a written statement.
Mason could not be immediately reached for comment.
