Brown Rudnick lost a director in its government law and strategies group to The Guardian Life Insurance Co. of America, the company announced Wednesday.
Jonathan Renfrew, who had been at Brown Rudnick since 2008, is Guardian's federal affairs vice president, leading the company's new Washington office. At the law firm, he lobbied for companies that included Guardian, New York Life Insurance Co., Oracle Corp. and Toyota Motor North America Inc., according to congressional records.
"In spite of the current economic uncertainties, Guardian has been able to fully align its interests with those of its policyholder owners, while remaining strong," Guardian President and Chief Executive Officer Deanna Mulligan said in a statement. "We look forward to Jonathan’s contributions in helping us share that, and other important messages, with federal policy makers."
Renfrew couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.
Prior to joining Brown Rudnick, Renfrew worked on Capitol Hill for more than 10 years. He spent stints as the chief of staff, legislative director and senior legislative assistant to Rep. John Larson (D-Conn.), as well as a legislative assistant to then-Rep. Barbara Kennelly (D-Conn.)
