Ballard Spahr has started up a mortgage banking group in its Washington office with three lateral partners and an associate, the firm announced Monday.
Richard Andreano Jr., John Socknat and Michael Waldron, all former partners at Patton Boggs, will serve as the practice leaders for the newly created group. Associate Reid Herlihy also joins the firm from Patton.
The new team of attorneys will handle a gamut of regulatory issues including advising mortgage companies and financial firms on compliance and licensing, structuring operations, and enforcement actions.
“Acquiring this group of superbly talents lawyers fills out our consumer financial services group in an important way by adding attorneys whose focus is on residential mortgage regulatory work — a need we’ve been aware of for some time,” firm chairman Mark Stewart said in a statement.
