A business development and consulting firm led by former Sen. Christopher "Kit" Bond (R-Mo.) has recently opened in Washington.
Bond, a partner at Thompson Coburn, unveiled Kit Bond Strategies in St. Louis on Tuesday. The seven-person firm, which has offices in Missouri and Washington, will assist clients with communications and planning, as well as U.S. and international business development, particularly related to expansions to Asia.
“KBS is focused on helping American companies expand their markets overseas, create jobs here at home, and grow our economy, efforts I am proud to have championed during my 40 years in public office,” Bond, chairman of Kit Bond Strategies, said in a statement. He will remain as an attorney with Thompson Coburn.
One of the firm’s first orders of business will be to help lead a trade trip to Indonesia in January 2012 for Missouri companies looking to expand their business in that country.
Bond, also a former Missouri governor, served in the Senate from 1987 until this year. While in the Senate, he spent several years as the chairman of the Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee. Currently, Bond sits on the Center for Strategic and International Studies U.S.-ASEAN Commission and the Japan Tsunami task force.
“For Senator Bond, this [firm] was a natural fit,” said Shana Marchio, the director of the firm’s Washington office.
