The former chief of staff to former Sen. John Ensign (R-Nev.) has joined Capitol Counsel as a Washington consultant, the lobbying firm announced Tuesday.
Aaron Cohen will join the lobbying shop as a principal focused on health policy. Before joining Ensign’s office, Cohen was vice president of government and political affairs at Jeffrey J. Kimbell & Associates. Prior to that, Cohen was a chief policy advisor to Ensign, working on health care, Social Security and vererans’ affairs issues.
In 2009, Cohen replaced former Ensign chief of staff John Lopez after news of Ensign's extramarital affair with a former staffer’s wife surfaced. The senator resigned in May, amid a congressional ethics investigation related to the affair.
“Capitol Counsel is eager to bring Aaron Cohen on board our team of professionals, and we are excited about the relationships and strategic knowledge he brings to the firm,” John Raffaelli, the firm’s founding partner, said in a statement.
